The Carp Derby will take place at the Michigan DNR Echo Point Boat Launch near Allegan, MI on June 12th from 9 am to 5 pm. Prizes will be awarded and food is provided. A map and additional information can be found at this link. The event is free and no pre-registration is required. For more information, contact Shawn McKenney at the Allegan County Conservation District at (269) 673 8965 ext. 3.

  • Super Soil Saturdays:

Every year volunteers with the Kalamazoo River TMDL Point Source Committee, Implementation Committee, Master Gardeners, local retailers, and other community members offer free soil testing for residents in the Kalamazoo River Watershed. The testing provides residents with information about the phosphorus content in the soil from their yards. Residents can use this information when selecting fertilizers or other lawn practices. Some of the municipalities and counties in the watershed have ordinances that limit phosphorus fertilizer use, unless a soil test shows that more phosphorus is necessary. Check back soon for this year's results!
